Review: Revlon matte lipstick in "006-Really red"
It is a little redder than this, and definetly very opaque, im working on taking better pics for you guys. Going to buy a camera with macro (is that whats it's called) so that I can do better close ups when I can afford it!
Wow. this lipstick is instantly a new favourite. It's a deep red, very blue based and absolutely gorgeous. It is matte, which is exciting for me, because I've never had a matte lippy before (I'm only recently enjoying lippie) and I really enjoy it. For me, matte lipsticks are going to be what I wear when I need something that will last the night, and not kiss off. Once it's dried, which takes around 15-20 minutes, it is kiss proof and drink/food proof.
It is a tad drying, but I think that is the price to pay for something that lasts all night and won't rub off. You can also obviously apply a gloss over this, and that will mean that a little colour comes off, but only a little. It is a little staining on your lips, but it's really subtle and you shouldn't really notice it.
I've used it in a youtube tutorial for a sexy daytime pinup look, that will be up shortly. Please have a look at www.youtube.com/DisappearingBeauty03
So if youre in the market for a deep red lipstick, check this one out. I bought it at Target, for 22.50 roughly.
Happy halloween!

Totally delayed "TiLT my World!"
Hey everyone, how is the halloween weekend treating you? I can't remember whether aussies spell halloween with an a or a e. oh well.
So, I wanted to start this on Thursday, when TiLT's are supposed to go up, but because of last minute job interview shopping, I couldn't really post it. Sorry. For those who don't know, TiLT stands for Things I Love Thursday, as created by the wonderful and totally breathtaking Gala Darling, of www.galadarling.com. It is basically where in an effort to create happiness and learn to focus on the positive things, we create a list of things that we really enjoyed that week. So, lets get into it.
1. Gala Darling herself has designed a pair of shoes, called "Birthday Girl" theyre slight platforms, Bright pink with leopard print, and made from ponyhair. (not from ponies, its the underside of leather.) Basically, I must have these. Gala has been a massive fashion inspiration to me, daring me to wear colour and teaching me to love pink. Plus, when I emailed her a few questions, she responded to me in a matter of hours. With the sweetest responses. I was so happy. Find them at www.galadarling.com
2. Going to a job interview and being told that even if I don't get the job I applied for, they can give me some free training and have me employed soon. Hope this works out.
3. Feeling hot as in a new outfit, complete with new lipstick and nailpolish. The lippie is a matte by Revlon, in number 006 "Really red" and it's my new favourite. There will be a review soon. Promise.
4. Seeing my Grandma. Enough said. I love her.
5. A new haircut that just looks like a neater version of my previous hair. Which makes me happy. lol.
6. Makeup, colour. creation. Tomorrow I am practising coloured eyebrows, false eyelashes and whatever else I feel like. Plus, figuring out how to press my loose shadows so that I can actually use them. lol.
Ok, I don't want to put too many on here, so six is enough to start with. Sorry again that it's late, i'll try not to do that again.
xx Britt

How to save, yet feel like youre splurging.
Quick disclaimer. I am not an accountant, nor have I recieved any kind of money handling courses, I am simply someone who is learning finances through trial and error, and i want to share something thats worked for me.
Saving. No other word strikes as much fear in my heart, except Debt. Handling money has never really been something i'm good at. Frankly, when I get money, I seem to want to get rid of it as soon as possible. I was always broke, and could never really afford to buy what I wanted. Luckily, I have a boyfriend who has spent MANY hours helping me learn how to save money, and still feel like I can drop thirty-six dollars on a concealor, no problems. So today, I decided to show you what works for me, in the form of a few tips and tricks.
1. Sit down and figure out how much you earn, how much you're currently spending per week, how much you want to save (I recommend ten percent, to begin with.)
2. After deducting your bills and mandatory payments, see how much you have left. Is it $60, 70? 100?? Ie if you earn $500 per week, and pay $200 rent, and then have to pay $100 for bills and food, you will have $200 left. Of that, try and save twenty, or even thirty.
3. Then, out of whatever is left over, decide how much is going to be your allowance. The trick is to not make this too tight, Just like your jeans, they need to be a tad roomy and be capable of still being comfy even in times of indulgence. Personally, I get $40 of 'need' money, this goes towards things like food, medicine, razors...that sort of thing. I also get $40 of 'want' money. Every week I decide whether I need to buy something, or if I can afford to purely buy wants. If I do, then any food or little things can be spent out of need money. If however, I need to buy some things, then food and every day expenses will come out of my want pot. Anything that is left over at the end of the week, simply carries over into the next weeks' budget.
I found that if I restricted myself, and gave myself $50 for the entire week, I would rebel and blow $100 on wahtever it was that I wanted. Hence, that week I would actually be spending $150 on myself. Talk about planning to fail. However, having $80 in total meant that I felt less restricted, and although it isn't the easiest thing to do, I manage to stick to it. The other thing I have learnt is not to spend my 'want' money on the first night that I get it. I try to hold onto it until at least the weekend, so that i'm not caught out if something happens. For example, on the first night that I got my money, I spent all of my want money at Benefit.. But when I ended up going shopping with my boyfriend, I saw a gorgeous skirt for $15 dollars. Too good to pass up yeah? Luckily, David bought it for me. But if I had saved my money, I could have bought a top to go with it, and the Benefit stuff next week.
Ofcourse you don't have to copy my plan. You can just take away my lessons, and be real about what you need, what you can afford and how you can handle it. This formula is working well for me, but it may not for you. But if you want to, try it. I've been slowly working towards a great budget solution for two years now, and i'm not one hundred percent close. But I am alot closer, for trying.
It all becomes about smart spending, not self restriction. Oddly enough, that's how eating for weight loss and health works. If we can chocolate, chips and lollies, we will begin to fantasize about them, and eventually we eat all of them, and absolutely "fall off the wagon." well, actually, more like we blew up the wagon and buried the remains, as if it never existed.
So take a step back, think realistically, and do your best. If it doesn't work, then simply try again.
Thank-you for reading,

How to eat for Weight-loss and Optimum Health, Part I
We all know that cleaning our face and looking after our skin on the outside will go a long way to keeping our skin clear and beautiful, but what happens inside also affects our skin. Eating well, exercising and not doing harmful things like smoking and excessive drinking can work better than any anti-ageing cream. Having said that, I will introduce to you a collection of articles written by JesseAnne that will delve into looking after your body, and in turn, your skin. Eating well will not only help our skin, it will helpyour energy levels, weight loss efforts, and overall health. Really, eating well is a no-brainer. Part one focuses on fruit, vegetables and fats, and she will cover protein and carbs at a later date. So lets jump into it.
xo Britt
I'm going to be writing a few articles that focus around weight-loss from a nutritional aspect, including Nutrition 101, How to Exercise and Enjoy It, and How to Feel Full and Still Lose Weight.
Today, we'll focus on Nutrition 101, what to eat for healthy and balanced weight loss.
There's lots of information out there on how to lose weight. Some of the information is valid, and some can actually be damaging to your health.
For instance, did you know that depriving your body of essential nutrient containing foods in order to lose body fat quickly dramatically effects your metabolism (the amount of food you can eat before it is stored as fat) energy and appearance, making it harder to keep weight off and ultimately contributes to future weight gain?
Your body is a living, working thing and needs to be treated well in order to flourish. If you eat for health, weight will become easier to manage.
So, what should we be getting each day?
First of all, the most important things to eat every day are 5 serves of veggies and 2 serves of fruit.
A serve of veggies is 1 cup of leafy green vegetables, or ½ a cup of all other vegetables. This can be served in the form of soup, salad, stir-fry’s, sandwich fillings, on toast in the mornings, as part of a pasta sauce etc.
Then comes fruit. Fruit contains essential vitamins and nutrients, but it also contains a high level of fructose, which your body converts to sugar if you don't burn it off. Fruit is natures dessert, and should be treated as such. Fruit juices from the supermarket are often seen as a healthy beverage. However, what you're drinking is a hit of pure sugar, without the benefits of eating a whole piece of fruit. Therefore, it's not much better than having a fizzy drink!
1 medium piece of fruit, 2-3 pieces of dried fruit, or 2 small pieces of fruit equal one serve. Other ways to eat it are to have mixed berries with yoghurt or in a smoothie, or melon for dessert in summer. Fruits are a great snack as the fructose provides enough energy to tide you over till your proper meal time.
Next on the list is water. Whilst we can survive for days and days without food, we can't go more than 2 or 3 days without water.
It is essential for flushing out disease-creating toxins, keeping us fresh and feeling good and no end of physiological processes essential to our well-being. Most people don't get enough of the stuff, preferring sugary soft drinks or caffeinated beverages.
Did you know that by the time you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated?
The minimum amount you should drink is 1.5 liters a day. That's the absolute minimum. This can seem quite boring though. Using a couple of tricks to 'fool yourself' into drinking more can help with this.
One trick is buying a 750ml water bottle and making sure you get through it twice in one day.
Your daily water serve can also be delivered via soups, mineral waters or herbal teas. Another trick is to drink it with a bit of cordial, or if you'd rather something a bit healthier, I personally pop a couple of Berocca tablets into my water to flavour it, and provide a hit of minerals and vitamins.
The final food group I'm going to discuss today is fats. They have quite a bad reputation, and some of them deserve it! I'm sure you've heard of Saturated fats, to be found in dairy, red meats, pastries, fried foods, cookies, cakes and other processed foods. Saturated fats actively contribute to cell damage and cholesterol in the body. So it's quite a big deal!
However, our bodies are designed to have other kinds of fats, called poly-unsaturated and mono-unsaturated fats. These two fats actively contribute to our feelings of satiety, and actually help us eat less! They contribute to cell regeneration, heart health, brain health and joint health. Without enough of these fats, you are more prone to arthritis, heart disease, dementia, mood swings, poor skin, nails and hair. So as is usually the case, moderation is everything.
These two fats are found in nuts, seeds, avocado, peanut butter and egg yolks. A small handful of nuts and seeds each day, 2 eggs or peanut butter on two slices of toast or rice cakes is best each day.
And finally, sleep also plays a huge role in weight management. If we are deprived of rest, we are more likely to be in a poor mood and feel exhausted. So the body instinctively reaches for high energy snacks to provide enough fuel until bedtime. You are more likely to choose the fatty options rather than the fresh options, and as you're tired, you are less able to rationalize with yourself as to what's best for you.
So make sure you get your 8 ½ hours each night.
Following the above guidelines will go a long way to making you feel good and look good. :)

Im gonna make it happen this time! Weight loss, that is.
So, If you knew me two years, I would look something like this:
I would weig roughly 69 kilos, and be a highly active person. I was happy, and fitted into a size 10-12. I wasnt at my goal yet, but i was so close i could taste it. Then high school ended and life began. In order to save you from the "ive had it so bad" junk, (because everyone has hard times) basically, last year i went through a tonne of emotional stuff and fell depressed, stayed home and ate and even cried at the thought of leaving the house. Anyways, after some awakenings, I began to pick my life back up and now im happy, employed, out of debt...but still carrying the scars of my previous year. In one winter, I managed to gain nearly 30 kilos. ouch. Thats like, a kilo a week. Holy cow, huh!
If you know me now, and you do since clearly youre reading my blog, I look like this:
I am an unhealthy 100kg and i am a size 18. Ew. I still love myself and dont think poorly of myself. Ive learnt not to associate my self worth with my weight, as what I ate really helped me cope with some hard times. But I am learning to associate new things with comfort, rather than food. Things like going online and blogging, doing my nails, anything beauty related that gets me thinking about looking good. It really distracts me and makes me not want to eat. Weight loss isnt just a physical journey, its a recreation of ones' self. Creating new hobbies and new stress releases, finding a new joy in life and in exercise.
So, to begin losing the weight I've adopted a few healthy habits, and will put one extra habit into place every week:
1. Jogging. every morning I get up and jog around my block. I still cant go very far or very long, but I jog until I need to rest, and work hard at getting further every day. It's a great start to the day, and gets me thinking about my health.
2. Water. I carry my bottle everywhere, and make a massive effort to drink it. I try to avoid drinking soft drink, however its hard for me as I really enjoy pepsi max. I think my goal this week will be to go a week without soft drink.
3. Fruit n veggies. I definetly don't get my 2 fruits and 5 veg a day. well actually I get my fruits, just not my veg. However, I really do do my best to increase the vege portion as much as possible, so that at least im close.
4. When I have to urge to snack, I do something beauty related. Fiddle with makeup. Draw fashion ideas. Redo my nails. Hair. anything. If i find that I really can't remove my craving, Ill have either air popped popcorn or diet jelly. If however, I'm craving something unhealthy, I'll indulge a little, knowing that it's better to satisfy a little craving, rather than a massive one that comes from not getting what we want.
Ok, I think you get the gist of it. So my goal is 64 kilos, and I think it will take me maybe a year and a half. I'm taking it slow, so that all of my lessons sink in, and it can really become a way of life for me. Stay tuned for my measurements (theyre on my boyfriends comp so ill post them later) and for my journey. Feel free to share any tips/stories or advice with me.
Much love,
Britt

Review: MAC cremesheen Glass in "Double Dare"
So, yay. my first review.
Today I am reviewing my very first MAC purchase, and something that I have become totally addicted to. I have a skin tone that works really well with red lips, like the blue toned, bright reds. But I really wanted to try a pink lip.So I headed to Mac to see what would fulfil my desire.
After trying a few lipsticks, I decided to try a lipgloss. This colour popped out immediately to me. Amongst the bubblegum pinks and the pale ones, was this coral-ish, red/pink toned colour. It was pretty much love at first site.Plus, with the name "Double Dare" it became too hard to resist.
The cremesheen texture is one that I love. It feels moisturising and glossy, and has very nice pigmentation. I wear this either alone or over concealor. Its a nice shade that is quite versatile. Worn alone, it's a bold bright pink, but edges into a red side. This has no shimmer or glitter, which I think makes it look more mature and sophisticated. It would be great to do a modern pin-up look with it, and it reminds me of Katy Perry who 'ive seen with a really gorgeous pink lip. If you want a softer, paler colour, simply cover your lips with concealor first, and the colour becomes a gorgeous soft, almost powdery looking pink. Alternately, pair under a red lipliner to pump up the red factor.
The colour is a little "bolder" than this but the bottom lip is over concealor, top is on its own.
The gloss consistency is really nice. Your lips are left shiny, with minimal stickyness. However, this isn't a no-stick colour. It is a little tacky, but that means it will last a little longer. Plus, if you tend to rub your lips together, the colour can be pushed onto the edges of your mouth, creating a line around your lips. To avoid this, ill often put it on over a red or pink lipliner. this will also bring out more of either colour in the gloss. Im yet to try putting a paler pink in the centre of my bottom lip, but that might create a really nice dimension.
Swatches of a thin layer of gloss and a thicker application on bare skin.
The price of this in Australia is $42 dollars. Which I have never paid for a lipgloss, but to me it was worth every penny. I adore this product and look forward to owning more Mac lipglosses. I really enjoy the quality and the colour range.
Wearing a fresh coat of my favourtie ever lip gloss. this wont be leaving my lips anytime soon.
Thank-you very much for reading, follow me for more beauty reviews and hauls etc!
Have a beauti-full day. haha.

Have a beauti-full day. haha.

Learning to Love yourself, or, Fake it Till you Make it.
the first post is going to be written by JessieAnne since she wrote a really great article that i think really introduces my blog well. so enjoy! xo Britt
Did you know that we make several decisions a day that reflect our own inner sense of self-worth? That every day, we decide what sort of treatment we will or won't accept, both from others and ourselves?
How we treat ourselves sends out a message to the world and the Universe (not to mention reinforces our own beliefs) about how well we deserve to be treated in this life and what we deserve from other people.
For instance, some one who constantly makes poor decisions in their love life and keeps going back to partners that treat them badly, probably doesn't believe on a core level that she or he deserves better. Even though their friends may be telling them they deserve so much better, they sigh and say 'Yes I know', but repeat the negative pattern of behavior.
As a result, this is the message they give not only themselves, but also the Law of Attraction, and as a result they are drawn to the same kinds of people, who in turn are drawn to them.
There are many other decisions we make that also convey our level of self-worth, not just to ourselves but to the world. For instance, each time we choose a nutritious and tasty meal that is equally satisfying and healthy, over one that is nutritionally empty, we are saying we deserve the positive option.
Think of the child who takes his or her self-esteem from the way their primary care-giver treats them. A child whose parents don't make enough time for them feels it is because they are not worth making time for (as adults, we understand time demands and intellectually know that our parents did the best they can, but we can still carry those feelings with us into adult hood. Indeed, many of us do). The child that is always cared for and given plenty of time will have a higher opinion of his or her worth, and believes they are treated well because they are special, beautiful, worth making a fuss of.
As adults, and even in our late teens, we become our own primary care-givers. We make the decisions that our parents once made for us. So what sort of a message are you giving yourself? Are you worthy of good food, nice clothes, a satisfying career, healthy relationships? Or do you feel that you are unworthy, and make decisions that reflect this feeling of inadequacy?
Ideally, once realizing that your self-esteem needs a boost, you would simply feel better and start living your ideal life. However, it's not as easy as that. This is where we introduce the concept of 'Fake It Till You Make It'.
In other words, think about how a person who completely loves themselves and knows they deserve respect would treat themselves, and take those actions. Even if you don't feel it internally right away (and like all things worth doing, this can take time), you start to give your mind, body and heart positive messages. Like the child that says 'Mummy and Daddy treat me well so I must be special', your body, mind and heart will start to say 'S/He treats me well so I must be deserving'. Eventually, your feelings will line up with your positive behaviors.
So what are some examples of making decisions that are centered around self-caring and self-worth?
The one I've used already is to choose food that makes you feel and look good. Fresh fruits and veggies, lots of water, whole grains and good quality treats that are eaten for enjoyment, rather than emotional binging, such as dark chocolate versus junk chocolate, or a fresh made dessert with cream versus a supermarket dessert.
Some other examples are:
Choosing clothing that reflects our inner state of self-worth. This doesn't necessarily mean following fashion or wearing cosmetics, but rather wearing clothes that make you feel good and fit you well, and maintaining personal appearance and hygiene (and this applies to men as much as women).
Choosing to engage with people that treat you with respect, including your opinions, thoughts and emotions, and who value you as an individual.
Choosing to take good care of your physical and mental well-being through regular exercise, massage and meditation.
Choosing not to mess up your mind or body with excessive alcohol, drugs or cigarettes. These things wreak havoc with your health, complexion, mental abilities and can often act as mild depressants.
Making time to just be by yourself. This is essential for recharging your 'batteries', and may involve going for a walk, sitting down with a book and a cup of tea, taking yourself out to a movie or museum or just staying in for a night with a DVD.
Doing a course on a topic that you enjoy
Ensuring you give your body plenty of sleep each night
Following your own instincts and guidance as to what is best for you, rather than what others expect of you.
When you start to make some positive choices, you'll notice the difference in how it makes you feel as compared with how you feel when making a decision that doesn't benefit you as highly. After some time, you'll want to make the more beneficial decisions more often.
